ELDER LOGAN CHASE VAN KATWYK
WEEK #1
6/26/14
So my companero is Elder Duerst from Colorado. And he´s a rad dude. He makes me work hard and doesn´t let me be lazy which I need, but he's awesome.
Ok, so last week..... oh my goodness.... soooooo so hard. I dont think i´ve ever been in a situation that hard and discouraging before. The second day here at the CCM we already had to start teaching an investigator. After that lesson, i was so beyond discouraged. as well as all the other elders y hermanas in my district. I sat on my bed almost about to cry thinking to myself "can i really do this? is this really for me?" and i was just doubting myself on end. But then I was looking through the photo albums and i came across Tanner's note when he wrote "Be brave. Be patient. The Lord loves you." and that´s when I just started to cry (as well as right now while I'm remembering that) so thank you so so so much Tanner. Because whenever I have a hard time I always just go and read that and it makes me have hope. Through that struggle and experience, my district grew so close because we were all going through the same things and had the same feelings.
The next day we did a district fast, basically fasting for 23 hours and we all nailed our lesson and just felt so happy because we just felt so blessed. Now the only problem is just learning this language and teaching it. Yesterday me and my companion invited our investigator to baptism and he said yes. So that was pretty awesome.
A couple days ago, one of the sisters in my district felt really sick and asked for a blessing. It was pretty awesome being in that room while it was happening and just feeling the spirit. She didn´t get miraculously better the next day but she did get a little better. Speaking of which, I already got my first sickness. Probably from it raining and thunderstorming every....single.....day here or what. And my companion also got sick recently, so we're trying the best we can to get better.
Well I'm glad everyone is safe. Hope everything is everything. I sure miss everybody a lot, especially being this far away. but it´s all for the best.
Love everyone and I pray you all everyday. We´ll see what stories I will have next week!

WEEK# - arrival day to Mexico City CCM (language training center)
6/18/14
heyooo!
I made it here safely. So first, my companion is Elder Duerst. Have not met him yet but I will soon. Anyways, it was fun to have a whole "possy" of missionaries to be with.
The plane ride to Mexico was actually pretty fun. Me and an Elder where talking to this 13 year old girl the whole time which helped make the plane flight a lot more bearable. She was sure testing our spanish and we were talking about all sorts of different things like about the mission and about everything else.
Mexico actually is not that bad really. I thought pretty low of it before coming here but I was wrong. Ive already seen very interesting and amusing things with the people. Anyway, i should probably get off so the next person can get on it. Can´t wait to get started! sure one wild ride to get here. So lets see where it takes me.
Love you lots,
Elder VanKatwyk :)
