WEEK #32
1/26/15
Hello all!
Sounds like you all had a good week and learned a lot! Especially providing service for others in the ward and learning from the principles of the Gospel. Good job everyone :) Congrats Tanner on your losing weight! I'm still 150 pounds. I went up two pounds since I've left and that is pure 2 pounds of leg muscle hahah
My week was great. I had interviews with President last week and I thought it helped me out a lot. Basically he told me to always have a good attitude no matter what the circumstance. And when I always have a good attitude, my area will be blessed and I will see miracles. So, I've been trying to have a better attitude about some things. I understand why I need that though because there will be times where I don't want to do some things and I want to just go back to my natural state before the mission, with just relaxing and laying around. But I always push myself and push my thoughts away. And as well, with not much success happening here in Del Norte, it's very discouraging so my faith starts dwindling because of no success and I feel like this area isn't going any where. But I know that his council will help me out.
On Saturday, all the missionaries went to McAllen to hear Dallin H. Oaks. And he also brought with him Lynn G. Robbins and Elder Wright (who is going to be the new mission president of Santa Rosa California) It was funny because Elder Oaks is so much smaller and shorter than he looks on the TV in General Conference. But he is very humorous though. He made a joke saying that he loves to joke around and laugh and have a good time outside of general conference. But he looks stern and serious when he speaks in GC because "when you have the whole first presidency and apostles behind you, It's not alot of giggles". Their talks where really good. Elder Oaks talked about receiving inspiration and revelation and Elder Robbins talked about changing and repentance and how the mission changes people for the better. And Elder Wright said a little bit probably like a 5 minutes testimony. It was awesome seeing all the missionaries I knew. I saw my papi Elder Field!!!! I was super excited haha Apparently he's a Zone Leader down in Brownsville. And we also had a little Apartment 54 reunion with the original "54 phantoms" (Clark, Pulsipher, Blackman, and I) And I also talked to a few of the missionaries I came out with like Elder Lindsey and Sister McNamara from the CCM. SO that was alot of fun.
Elder Rodriguez and I are all good and unified. Took just a teeny bit longer than the previous companions but now that we're getting into the swing of things, we joke around and are pretty cool. Of course I'm definitely still more wild than he is (especially with Blackman still) but he accepts it haha.
Dustin texted us at midnight on Tuesday and left a voicemail on our phone. I was super pumped and called him back. Basically he said that he missed us and that he apologizes for always being gone. As well he told us that he felt like it was too fast and that he's not ready yet. We're going to meet up today probably and play some basketball with him and then have a lesson afterwards so we'll see what happens with that.
No new tracting stories in the rain. Hasn't really rained here all that much. Crap I found good scriptures during personal study but I don't have my scriptures with me :/ haha and no new pictures yet. We're gonna take some this week, and I'll be sure to get 'em out next week!
But yup that was my week! Hope everything is still everything so you all can keep on keepin' on. I enjoy your emails every week and glad everyone is all good.
Love you all and pray for you all. Have a good week!

WEEK #31
1/20/15
Hey everybody!
So my week was good...and hard/stressful. So my new companion is Elder Rodriguez and his home is Salt Lake City Utah, but he was born in Peru and he's the new DL to replace Elder Clark. Being ADL brings me back to when I was 'born' in the mission. Elder Field got the call to train me and to be District Leader at the same time when I came in. But it's a little different now because I'm more experienced in the mission now and I know more of what I'm doing this time around haha. But it's a good time. It was super hard though for me because I really really really missed our old Apt 54 with Elder Pulsipher and Clark. It's just different now but Elder Blackman and I are still our crazy selves and we still act the same regardless haha. It's also super stressful being ADL because I have to plan for our area every other day while Elder Rodriguez is doing his "District Leader" things and at that same time while he's trying to learn the area. Which also reminds me of when I was with Elder Latu, our first week together. So everything right now just brings me back to past experiences. Yes, I know how to handle them and it's not anything new to me, but at the same time....It makes me feel super old hahaha so the new Zone Leader here is Elder Christiansen and this is his first transfer being ZL. He's super cool and super nuts haha but we get along super well. And with Blackman training, his little greenie Elder Castillo loves me to death (according to Elder Blackman), and so I guess you could say I've helped train him a little bit. He's a really good Elder though. Last week saturday, we did a zone blitz and Castillo was with me in my area. Really good missionary. Obviously things to improve on but I see really really really good potential with him. Elder Blackman and I joke around saying that I'm the "Uncle" because I've done 12 Week with his greenie and I've showed him how I teach the 10 Commandments. And then we've also had spiritual conversations before going to bed (while my comp was doing follow-ups) and Elder Blackman and I gave him advice on things and such. So you could say I'm getting a little practice of training in ;)
That's super cool that Zack is getting baptized! That name sounds super familiar but I just don't remember what he looks like! But still that's super cool. Send me a pic if you can! What!? Morgan almost died! :'( Yooooo keep her alive till I get back! I'm glad she's doing alot better though. It's too bad that she's having these kidney problems and always has to be on a special diet. But hey, like owner like cat right? :)
3 things I've learned about my new comp is that he came out right out of high school, he's the 2nd companion that I've stolen away from Elder Lindsay (missionary from the CCM. His "missionary dad" is Elder Latu, got transferred to finish training me) aaaand he likes Chinese food.
Hmmmm a tender mercy I had this week would probably just be being able to have the confidence to run my area and being the leader for my area while Elder Rodriguez learns it.
Someone new I met this week..... I met this crazy dude who I previously saw who was probably on drugs during a time when Elder Pulsipher and I were knocking a door across the street from this guys house. Elder Castillo and I went and talked to him (why not right?) because we saw him outside his house and that guy was super nuts. We were talking to him and I had to try so hard not to laugh. It was a fun experience.
So right now, it's Elder Blackman, Elder Castillo, Elder Rodriguez and I living in Apt 54 (Still super super duper sad about the change but I'm starting to feel better).
Hmmmm a bike riding story.......We were coming home from a wedding at the church and we did a turn on the street and Elder Castillo hit his brakes too hard, started drifting around the corner, but kept drifiting and eventually hit the ground. His all good though! haha
So I've decided to drop Dustin.... Hardest thing ever and very discouraging because we still haven't had a solid investigator this whole time I've been here since October. His phone was still disconnected and he just does his own thing and leaves the house when he wants to so it was super difficult to find him, so I just decided to give him the boot for now. So now we're back to square one......again. This is definitely a really hard area I'm not gonna lie. And it's hard to find the will of the Lord in this area, but, hopefully we'll see success in the near future.
But that is my week! I love you all a lot and pray for you all. Keep on keepin on so everything can still be everything ;)

WEEK #30
1/12/15
Hey hey hey!
Glad to see everything is all good and everything is everything! My week was a roller coaster you could say. That I remember, nothing really happened much. As for Dustin, things got disappointing a little bit. Elder Pulsipher and I went by his house with a member and we asked his younger brother if he was there. He told us ya and that he was the one in his car blasting the rap music super loud. So he went over to him and told him we were there to talk to him, but it turned out he didn't wanna talk to us right now because, "he didn't want us to see him like this" (from what his brother told us) So we caught him while he was high on drugs... I walked away very disappointed....in him especially. We had a good lesson planned to teach him about the Word of Wisdom but we couldn't teach it to him yet. So we went back the next day or so and his brother came out and told us that he was busy and to come back later. So we went back again and he wasn't there. Meanwhile, he couldn't pay his phone bill so his cell phone got disconnected. So we're still in the process of working with him. Haven't dropped him yet.
On Saturday, Elder Blackman went down to McAllen because he's training next transfer, so Elder Clark was with Elder Pulsipher and I. We were supposed to have an exchange and Elder Blackman was suppose to be with me in my area but it didn't happen. So we just picked a random street and started knocking on random houses and doors. Eventually, we talked to this guy that was just getting out of his car so we stopped and talked to him. Turns out that his son didn't know what to do with his life and he was starting to doubt his capacity and having responsibility and the parents didn't know what to do either to help him out. So we basically just taught them the principle of faith. Long story short, they accepted baptismal dates and we invited them to church. So...... on Sunday we biked to their house before church because they weren't picking up their phone and we luckily woke them up from sleeping. And so, they came to church!!!! We were soooooo pumped because we've never had someone at church since we've been here!!!! So Elder Pulsipher went and sat with them. My zone leader, Elder Garcia is going home tomorrow so he gave a talk and bore his testimony. Apparently our investigators loved it and they felt like crying. As soon as sacrament meeting was over, I immediately jumped outta my seat and just started telling all the auxiliary leaders that we had investigators there so they could go meet them. And they loved church!! Woop woop!! Dustin unfortunately didn't come to church but we're still working with him.
Tomorrow is transfers and I am staying but Pulsipher isn't :'( And Elder Blackman is staying and training in his area but Elder Clark is leaving. My new companion is named Elder Rodriguez. I've heard he's super cool but we'll see :p But ya I'm super sad that our Apartment 54 brotherhood is splitting. We had sooooooo much fun together. But we'll see how it goes. OH! and guess where Pulsiphers going????.........Alice!!!! Whaaaaatttt!?!?!?! What is with everyone going to my area!?!?!? His companion before me switched with me to take my place in Alice and now he is!!!!! What in the world!?!? hahah But ya we'll see how it goes. I'm ADL now so hopefully a District Leader being in my area will help the area grow. I'm excited to see where the area goes!
That's all folks! Hope everything continues to be everything! and Always remember... Keep on keepin on! :) Love you all a a lot and pray for you always!

WEEK #29
1/5/14
Hey everyone!!
Happy happy new year! My week was great! and Ya i didn't see an email from you all last week so I just figured it was because we skyped on Christmas. Speaking of which, It was fun seeing you all! Man sounds like there's alot happening while I've been gone. It's shocking to hear that Judy Davidson passed. Shocking to hear that all of them passed really because they were alive when I was at home. Looking alive and well.
Well I had a great week. On New Years, we watched Frozen as a zone. I wasn't really a fan at first because I've seen that movie a billion times but then I was like "Eh, whatever. This is the only time I get to watch a regular movie until next year". So It was fine lol But other than that, we just worked, just like any other day so it wasn't tooo special haha. Hahah it's crazy to think I'm already 1/4 of the way done. But, I still got 3/4 left to make things happen! :) Not rushing anything. Life as a 4 man is super awesome. We've made so many ridiculous videos of each other and we call each other the "Apartment 54 Phantoms" becuse we always pull pranks on each other and we just have a blast. Since transfers are coming up, it definitely won't be the same if even one of us leaves. We're thinking that Pulsipher and Clark will leave and Blackmanm and I will stay. But we'll just have to see next week. So an update on that soon!
Here's a tender mercy story. So like always we've struggled have progressing investigators the whole time we've been here. And as always we've been making plans, setting goals, changing things and improving things, but still no luck. Last weeks 'Zone emphasis' was urgency. So Elder Pulsipher and I have been trying to be as urgent as possible (biking as fast as we can, running to people doors, running up and down the street to talk to people) just whatever it takes. On New Years Day, We were at this apartment complex knocking on doors and seeing how much we can do there but we didn't have too much luck. So then we just bike as fast as possible to our next plan. As we're biking, we saw this person flag us down on the other side of the street and so we went to talk to him. He told us that he's seen us on our bikes so he thought he'd just talk to us and see what we're all about and what we believe. His name is Dustin. Super super super cool dude. 20 years old, gangster white dude (my kinda kid ;)) and he told us that he wants to change his life to be better and be able to be like us and help people. We ended up having an awesome lesson with him right there at the bus stop where he was at. It was awesome though because he was like "Ya like you guys and you guys looked like you were on a mission. You guys looked like you were just workin really hard". He has super good desires and told us several times that he "feels something new that'll come about this new year" and that "he excited because he can feel that a change will happen". And another great thing, he lives super close to the church, and his job is suuuuuper flexible (They gave him a whole month off of Sundays because they know how important religion is to him) So he's coming to church with us next week. We gave him a church tour with a member and we also taught him the Book Of Mormon and as we taught him he told us that he super excited to read the book because he feels like there's something special about it. After that lesson, we worked out when he'd be able to come to church and he told us that this Sunday he can. So he set a reminder on his phone about church! :) Suuuuuper tender mercy. If I'm able to teach him and baptize him, he'll definitely be my convert baptism for sure.
I think the scripture I'm gonna try to focus on this week is John 15:13. About something like "what more love is this than a man giving his life for his friends" and just applying that into my work with people I talk to and meet.
Love you all alot and I'm glad everything is everything! Keep on Keepin on! OH! and for Tanner, I saw a kid playing the new Super Smash Brother on the WiiU. You better practice up till I get back! :P
Have a good week!
